Which TV shows did you start watching in 2016?
I'm at the point of old age where I legit have to check my tags to confirm, and I love how these are loaded down with disclaimers about the definition of "start watching," but...
-Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders
-NCIS: LA in a way where I watched entire episodes for the first time
-Supergirl, sort of
-Madam Secretary, sort of
-The Great Indoors (well I've seen 3 episodes)
-The Good Place (unwillingly, I have seen more episodes of this than the above)
-Crazy Ex-Girlfriend: Musical Edit (is that a good name for only watching the musical numbers?)
Which TV shows did you let go of in 2016?
-The Mindy Project. That was a very conscious uncoupling.
-Definitely officially fired Castle & Glee, like barely even thought about them unless brought to my attention
-Community, sort of, in the sense that new episodes ended. But I still love it.
Which TV shows did you mean to get into but didn't in 2016? Why?
I sort of danced around the idea of Rizzoli & Isles, then decided to save it for a rainy day.
Which TV shows do you intend on checking out in 2017?
The aforementioned R&I, perhaps.
Which TV show impressed you least in 2016?
Doesn't The Odd Couple sort of always fail to impress? Except in the sense of how it keeps getting renewed where so many better Matthew Perry projects have failed.
Which TV show do you think you might let go of in 2017 unless things significantly improve?
NCIS is so far from my interests list that nothing more than sheer willpower is keeping me locked in. Also, The Odd Couple is always in this zone.
Which TV shows do you think you’ll never let go of no matter how crappy they get?
NO TELEVISION SHOW IS SAFE. Survivor is probably the safest though.
Your main fandom of the year?
Zoo. Like I was in so deep I (secretly) declared myself the Mayor of Zooville on Tumblr. I was the source of numerous discussion posts. I inspired fic by calling for it. I gathered legitimate followers.
Your favorite film you watched this year?
I want to say Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, even though if the Harry Potter movies are anything to go by, the odds of my rewatching it are low. Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children was also quite a delight.
Your favorite book read this year?
I tried gamely to answer this but just got bogged down in overwhelming love about all the good reading memories I made this year. How bout we just look at my book list and focus on the books in bold.
Your favorite album or song to listen to this year?
I'll go wtih albums, and either Sara Bareilles' "What's Inside (Songs from 'Waitress') or Maddie & Tae's "Start Here."
Your favorite TV show(s) of the year?
Beyond Borders in the spring trimester, Zoo for summer and NCIS: LA in the fall.
Your best new fandom discovery of the year?
Actual answer: Rizzoli & Isles book series.
Your fandom that made an unexpected comeback this year?
I tumbled headlong into Reba? That was a trip. But not as trippy as OLD SCHOOL 90S POWER RANGERS, a delightful madness that was cut short only by the explosive return of Zoo and its subsequent domination of all my brainpower and creative energies.
Your biggest fandom disappointment of the year?
My Zoo OTP ended last year on a kiss, but literally were stuck with one hug and a handhold for the shippiest moments of the entire season due to a completely unreasonable series of obstacles and superfluous love interests.[also it got even worse in the finale. spoilers here.]And then one of them was presumed killed, at least by the other characters, and at very minimum they were separated for ten years -- unless the premiere tells me different. Also due to the time jump, I simultaneously lost one of the most adorable child actresses and her wonderful dog. Are you getting a sense of why I went fandom MIA yet.
Your fandom boyfriend(s) of the year?
Deeks (NCIS: LA), Mitch Morgan, Jackson Oz (Zoo), Luke Alvez, Spencer Reid (Criminal Minds), Gabriel Dean (Rizzoli & Isles), Adam Foster (Supergirl), Jonah No Apparent Last Name (Superstore), and you know what let's just go ahead and get Hannah-awkward and crown the champs of Survivor Season 33: Ken and Adam, with a hat tip to Jay. Maybe it's less awkward if I leave out their last names to avoid Google pings.
Your fandom girlfriend(s) of the year?
You mean my fandom gal pals?
Kensi Blye, Nell Jones (NCIS: LA), Jamie Campbell (Zoo), literally all the ladies on Supergirl like honestly it is ridiculous, Clara Seiger, Mae Jarvis (Beyond Borders), Max Black (2 Broke Girls), Mindy Lahiri (The Mindy Project because SHE IS MY HERO FOREVER), Amy No Apparent Last Name (Superstore), and Valencia from Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.
Your biggest squee moment of the year?
Every damn moment of Deeks & Kensi, from January straight through December. I'm not even gonna try to count how many that is. If I had to narrow it all the way down, then either the scene where she first wakes up in 8x05, or the outdoor proposal attempt.
The most missed of your old fandoms?
The X-Files, because the fact that I couldn't participate in the renewed interest in My First Real Internet Fandom due to it being garbage was TRAGIC.
The fandom you haven't tried yet, but want to?
IDK, I feel like I'm pretty much okay with the fandoms I have.
Your biggest fan anticipations for the coming year?
Zoo, season 3. It...probably won't betray me? (it definitely will)
More accurately: The "Spencer" episode of Criminal Minds, and more wonderful things on the Densi front. I choose to believe in the good. I'm already excited for the S8 DVDs and the accompanying commentary tracks.
