Ahhh, the feeling of a new school year right around the corner.

I love this time of year. I especially love it as long as I still live here, with the high school football field across the street (well, behind a parking lot and way down a long path across the street, so we don't get noise or light pollution like the folks who have it in their backyard, but you can hear the announcers in the distance during games, and hear the drumline practicing).

I missed most of the fun of the School Supply Shopping Season while drowning in work (which is a shame, because I always love the extra-heady rush you get from going into that area. Even when it meant I had to actually go back to school, shopping for supplies was a favorite tradition). But I can still get all the rush of new beginnings, the anticipation of the Autumn Aesthetic, and maybe this year I will even go watch the Homecoming parade and/or track the calendar closely enough to pay attention to band concerts and other publicly accessible things I always realize I want to go to about a week after they happen.

If you need me for the rest of the day, I will be living in the "school supply haul" and related tags on Tumblr, and making Homer Simpson drooling noises.
