Somebody say mid-year book survey??

Because while idly thinking how much I would like to fill out a book survey, I tripped over one. Yay!

1. Best book you've read so far in 2020
Technically Little Women...but I'm gonna go with K.A. Tucker's Burying Water, based on my CONTINUING degree of book hangover and how annoyed I am that someone requested it out from under me.

2. Best sequel you've read so far in 2020
Tie between Little Men and Much Ado About Anne.

3. A new release you haven't read yet but want to
Jo & Laurie

4. Most anticipated release for the second half of 2020
*covers eyes*

5. Biggest disappointment
YOU'D BE MINE. That's a mighty trash man you've created there, Hahn. ("MAKE GOOD CHOICES!!" I screamed constantly at Annie, who almost never listened.)

6. Biggest surprise
The fact that I came away from Sorry Not Sorry liking Naya Rivera better than I did before.

7. Favorite debut or new-to-me author
New to me: Katherine Center (even if I still cannot for love or money be convinced that her mega-hit 2018 or 2019 releases look like my cup of tea), or maybe Alden G. Stevens.

8. Newest fictional crush
Jesse Welles from Burying Water. Honestly, it's irresponsible for him to be so appealing.

9. Newest favorite character
Alex from Burying Water. But to be more diverse, I'm kind of a fan of Megan from Nature Girl. Also her little scruff of a 10-pound mutt, Arp.

Also, despite their extreme flaws, Tony Hill and Carol Jordan from Val McDermid's series.

10. A book that made you cry
The Lost Husband by Katherine Center

11. A book that made you happy
Non-fiction book of essays I'd Rather Be Reading by Ann Bogel. She knows my reader's soul.

12. Favorite book-to-movie adaptation
Little Women (2019) by truth and also default

13. Favorite post you've done this year
14. Most beautiful book you've bought this year

15. Books you want to read by the end of the year
IDK! A lot. But I can't decide which ones. Currently I am in a 9-day non-reading streak and it's SO WEIRD but I cannot find anything I really, really want to start?? I have no idea what I'm in the mood for. As an attempt to answer, here's what I've got checked out of the library right now, though whether it will actually be finished is quite another question.

The Map of Lost Memories - Kim Fay
The Vistors - Simon Sylvester
Hit & Run - Norah McClintock
And Both Were Young - Madeline L'Engle
What They Always Tell Us - Martin Wilson
The Traitor Game - B.R. Collins
Powwow Summer - Nahanni Shingoose

+ Somewhere In Line on the Request List
The Guest List  - Lucy Foley
The Office: The Untold Story of the Greatest Sitcom of the 2000s - Andy Greene

Aaaand I was debating possibly rereading Harry Potter for the first time since it ended; not sure if I actually will, but I put myself in the queue for the illustrated edition of book 1, so we shall see.
