Little of this, little of that.

Actually, yesterday was really cool.  My parents got here at 11 and we spent a few hours walking through trails in the arboretum.  The first place we went was out to the chapel on the other side of the lake - which was extremely depressing, because they "renovated" it last fall and I remember looking at the pictures and thinking 'WHAT THE HELL,' but I haven't seen it since.  Now, mind, the original chapel was built in the 19th century, and the last time it was renovated - although I can't believe they changed very much - was 1915.  It was very rustic and naturally blended into the woods setting, made of beautiful stone with an open doorway and open windows, just a little resting spot.

The new version has completely covered up the stone and replaced it with red stucco.  They've raised it up half a level and built a new floor, replacing the original stone with tile, and added cheap-looking stained glass to the windows.  They've added 2 rows of wooden pews and a wooden door painted obnoxiously bright blue.  "It looks like a Mexican restaurant," Dad scoffed.  OMG, IT IS SO TRUE.  Here, I didn't have my camera with so I don't have any pictures, but I managed to dig out some other pictures from the internet:

P.S. You should be very proud of me that I actually kicked myself off the computer at 9:30 last night and dutifully read Emma for 2 hours before going to bed. It is freakishly warm right now, like middle-of-the-summer warm, as I had my window open and fan going and yet until well past 11 PM it was too hot to be anywhere near comfortable.  The weather's unseasonably warm anyway, and the Palace clings to heat like a furnace. And now I have to go sprint for the bus so I don't miss this class twice in a row. That would be ungood.

Fourth significant post of the day, woo!

Having a hard time getting started on any significant homework, I spent most of the evening half-watching random comedies. First I split my time between Big Bang Theory and Chuck, unable to decide which I liked less - the former was its usual level of irritating and eye-roll-inducing; the latter was just boring, though I was fascinated by how much the star resembles a much less cute John Krasinski. Following HIMYM it was Two and a Half Men, which just keeps being astonishingly gross and horrible, though still funnier than the 7:00 comedies, and then it was Worst Week, which I inexplicably love like a homely little puppy. Dear heart: stop being charmed by probably-doomed CBS comedies!

Whoa! I just saw a preview for the second episode of CSI, with Sara in it!  WHAT UP, JORJA FOX. Did not know you were sticking around for anything past the premiere! This is exciting, even though I still haven't seen last week's ep.
