So, while I work on the Take-Home Exam from Hell in a very inefficient manner, I've spent some of my
unproductive break time opening up the many, many papers I have written this semester and tallying up the word count. And now you're all going to play Guess How Many Words' Worth of Papers RS Has Written This Semester!
I find word count a more accurate measurement than page number, because page number varies a lot. Especially with me, as I flatly refuse to double-space my name/date/etc headers because it looks so lazy (WASTED SPACE!), and adjust my bottom margins, because if I leave them at 1," double-spacing does crazy things and often prints the last line closer to 2" from the bottom, and I feel like that's just cheating. This doesn't bother me on an intellectual level, more on a paranoid "OMG my professor will know I'm trying to pad the length and DOCK ME FOR IT!" And sometimes I screw with side margins in order to keep it from going like 2 lines onto the next page (I hate wasting paper like that).
Anyway! If it helps you visualize, an average page for me includes about 300-330 words. Bonus points for adding an exact number guess in the comments. I'm curious who can come closest. Results to be posted by the end of the week.
