The 30-Day TV Meme: It's Happening

**Day 01 - A show that should never have been canceled
I hope somebody else said "Pushing Daisies," because I'm saying "The Class."
(I swear Jason Ritter does not look that dorky/10 years old in the actual series.  This haircut is terrible)

As much as I love that vibrantly-colored fairytale, I'm still smarting over this kiboshed comedy, because it's one of the rare ones where every other line makes me laugh out loud.  Every time I revisit it on YouTube, I crack up helplessly like it's the first time.  That's sitcom magic, right there.  Alongside the humor (Kat's snark really should be as legendary as Sue Sylvester's), there were some incredibly appealing relationships - Richie & Lena's dorky puppy love, Duncan & Nicole's angst that Glee WISHES its Will/Emma/Terri triangle could equal - and despite a sizable cast, everybody got fairly even screentime and more importantly all had chemistry with one another.  Added to the fact that it only got 19 episodes and ended at a point all poised to shake up the stories for a season 2 that never happened, it's frustrating to see some of the comedies CBS does keep around.  Bonus: did your show ever stream a live table read and/or rehearsal?

**Today's entry brought to you by the fact that I spent approximately half my Sunday watching the entire series again.  Was not a conscious decision - I just clicked on one, and then another and another without pause until I was 12 episodes deep.  It's that addictive.

I think at least two people I know who've done this meme picked "Pushing Daisies" for the first topic. I know for a fact that one did. I'm actually surprised more people didn't choose "Firefly", which was my choice.

Pushing Daisies has a dog. That's enough to push it over in my book. :D

OH MY GOD, DO I MISS THE CLASS. I swear, I realize that there was a CBS show I liked every few months and then I run to YouTube to watch old eps. *cries*

Yessss, more unexpected fans! *high fives* I don't understand why the public didn't connect with it. Quotes! They fly unbidden to my brain!

"What's with all the birds?" "They're my mom's." "What's with living with your mom?"

"Wait, was he playing the violin naked? That's...troubling."

"Is that sarcasm? Because I do not get sarcasm." "Which is surprising because you're so *smart*."

I have to admit that I haven't even heard of this show really!! This must have been way pre-my internet days! But Jason Ritter! I know him - he guest-starred in a couple episodes of Parenthood and was looking extremely pretty! ;)

Eh, 2006-2007 - you've been around since at least '07, haven't you? It just didn't get a great deal of acclaim, and/or was usually buried by all the other more successful comedies.

I love Jason Ritter. Granted, I've only seen him on this & Joan of Arcadia, but both his characters made quite an impression. Stop giving me more reasons to watch Parenthood, universe! I don't have time!
