So...wait, they've decided to go all Dancing With the Stars hybrid and pair new performers with the old ones, instead of 20 amateurs? I'm confused. However, I shall be there with bells on. Especially as Mary Murphy has been removed from the judging table, and replaced by Mia Michaels, whom I like so much more that I will even sacrifice her choreography for an improvement at the table. Iiiiii may actually die of joy. So happy to have a reason to come back to Cat!
Day 24 - Best quote
1. "I'm never listening to you again. 'Don't be afraid. Open your heart!' Yeah. This baby's getting locked in a box. Inside a safe. Surrounded by sharks. With guns." --Kat Warbler, The Class. I use the latter part of this quote quite a lot with reference to TV shows that get canceled on me in their freshman/sophomore years. (and yet, I always love again.)
2. "I hate so much about the things that you choose to be." --Michael Scott, The Office. I know, I know, but I break out this line a lot, too. It's such a complete, wordy way of expressing your disgust.
Day 25 - A show you plan on watching (old or new)
Friday Night Lights. At this rate I will probably die before I see it, despite muzzy_olorea haranguing me all the time,
but I did take in the first two episodes, which confirmed that it is made of remarkable quality and stunning brilliance. I can't mainline this show; it's something I have to savor, so I need to clear out my inbox of all other shows before I can settle down with this one. Problem is, the inbox is always full and it restocks every September, leaving me with a narrow timeframe to get on that.
But one day, I will. I love just about everybody so far, and any time I see the title mentioned I get a little chill of love & Feelings. They've captured the essence of high school in a TV show - real high school, not the glitzy, gaudy kind featured on Glee & the CW - and since I happen to love high schools (why do you think I read all those YA novels?), the thought of this show is like being able to step into a living daydream. I love stories featuring h.s. football, which is not at all the same as asinine pro football. I maybe love all the trappings and ceremony and side diversions more than the game itself, but that sense of school spirit & pride transcends it. Okay, I feel like I'm having a weird spiritual awakening just talking about it, so I'm pretty sure I should stop before I build this into a legend it cannot possibly live up to.
It's just, this is the same legend I built up before I saw the pilot, and that pretty much lived up to expectations. I'm looking forward to exploring the storylines off the field too - they have solid character arcs, yes? - and of course, the Taylor parents are so fantastic that they cannot be contained in their own fandom. All of pop culture is aware of how great they are; it's not like I'm going to turn that down.
+ The legend of how I first stopped resisting it.
+ Reaction to the pilot. My opinion only got better after episode 2.
