Fail Meme Friday

I was cleaning up my Tumblr to make 100% sure it was safe, realized I hadn't cleared one Glee blog (I must have their tags blacklisted super well), accidentally clicked on the blog name instead of "unfollow," and BAM SMACK IN THE FACE WITH ONE OF THE THINGS I DIDN'T WANT TO SEE, so now I have[spoiler text]
"do you even want to marry me?" / "maybe I don't!" in full technicolor with captioned text burned into my brain and it's awful and I can't get it to stop and I just really need to drown my brain in fandom alcohol* asap until I forget.

*I am not yet sure if fandom alcohol is like the kind you drink (i.e. fun/memory-overriding) or the kind that burns in a cleansing way (i.e. making me madder to divert the anger), but I started chugging through my 6-episode backlog of The Mindy Project last night, which qualifies as the latter, so I might continue with that.

As a 'shipper, Glee seems like a nightmare on the ol' feels. I haven't watched since early on in s1, but from what I can tell through both tumblr and fandom osmosis, it's constantly cycling through 'ships like it specializes in 'ships du jour. No thanks! And I thought Kurt/Blain was their big unbreakable otp, anyway??? NOTHING MAKES SENSE ANYMORE.

Chugging through The Mindy Project is a good choice, though. Go with that.

It is THE SINGULAR WORST. (except possibly for Grey's Anatomy)

Honestly, Kurt/Blaine WAS the only one that seemed worth investing your whole heart in, other than possibly Finn/Rachel if you're okay with a roller coaster ride to a happy ending at the last minute, but I think Cory dying played a role in forcing the former into taking the brunt of "the only conflict is breakup conflict" that Glee is obsessed with.

Or, well, I guess a lot of things might have been different without that -- including the show not inexplicably spiraling into ratings hell last year when it decided to be genuinely interesting and cut the high school setting, which is the best explanation I can come up with for why season 6 exploded into such a festival of insanity in an attempt to "go back to its roots."

But they can try until the cows come home and the random over-the-summer breakup still won't make sense after they way they wrote the whole New York arc culminating in a promise to communicate better and learning how to make it work when life isn't all sunshine and winning show choir competitions.
