Welp, there goes my carefully cultivated sleep schedule. Oh well. Progress will feel better.

The only thing worse than having a million points of work to do is not having any music to listen to while working on it. And I have reached the Overstimulation Point with Spotify's music binge so that none of it satisfies me; THERE'S TOO MUCH I DON'T KNOW WHAT I LOVE ANYMORE, and it's THE WORST. My latest attempt to course-correct is by trying to fall in love with some of my older CDs again. I chucked in Carla Bruni's "Quelqu'un M'a Dit" on a whim, not expecting much because I think I pretty much only love the first and last songs and so haven't played it in years...

...and oh, what a pleasant rush of freshman-year-of-college memories. It's all comin' back, all comin' back to me now. The music, the shapes of sounds, the half-heard phrases and images formed from what I guess them to mean rather than checking any lyrics for sure. No, I don't adore most of them, but they are a very relaxing set all together. Even though The Music List celebrates mostly singles, falling in love with a full album and cementing a block of memories from that era that will come back to you forever after is unparallelled richness.

Speaking of which, I was listening to Avril Lavigne's first album on the commute to work earlier tonight. Way less classy announcement but similarly wonderful, all the better for, again, not having played it in a couple of years.

Your turn: do you have any CDs that spark a Rush of Feelings?
